Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A Kolkata-based businessman has filed a complaint at the Posta police station after an oil tanker, loaded with 34,000 kg of oil worth ₹21 lakh, went missing while en route from Raipur to Assam. The businessman had been contracted to supply the oil to Assam and made arrangements through multiple suppliers. The tanker, which was supposed to pass through North Bengal, never reached its destination in Assam.
The tanker, originally scheduled to arrive within ten days, was last in contact with the driver, Mohammad Sharif, on March 21, when he confirmed the oil was loaded in Raipur and the tanker had started its journey. However, after the deadline passed, the businessman was unable to contact the driver, and the tanker failed to arrive at its destination. Attempts to reach the owner of the tanker and the transport company yielded no satisfactory response, prompting the businessman to take action.
The businessman then contacted toll plazas along the route to trace the tanker’s movement. According to his findings, the tanker was last seen at the Galiya toll gate, located 177 kilometers from Assam, but after that, there was no trace of it. The businessman believes the driver may have sold the oil illegally and suspects the tanker owner and the transport company’s manager are involved in the disappearance.
Following these developments, the businessman filed a formal complaint against the driver, the original owner of the tanker, and the transport company. The complaint alleges that the driver absconded with the tanker and sold the oil without the businessman’s consent. The Kolkata police have started an investigation based on this complaint and are working to locate the accused parties.
The incident has raised concerns about the security and accountability of high-value goods in transit, with authorities urging tighter regulations to prevent such incidents. The investigation is ongoing, and police have assured that the involved parties will be apprehended soon.
